Description

The area for Soumak Kilims cannot be described as one region, these kilims are produced even before the Afghanis invaded Persia centuries ago. We can find Soumaks (type of weaving) from the North West of Persia to the border of  the Pakistani-Afghani region. Their faded gold base is made with finest thin threads of local sheep. This kilim is made with closing plain weave technique for the base, and Soumak embroidery for the intricate, geometric pattern.
